BAPTISMS

Holy Trinity Parish celebrates the Sacrament of Baptism on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 12:30pm at Holy Trinity Church, Queenscliff.
* For the months of July and August 2022, Baptism services will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Ocean Grove. The church at Ocean Grove is the largest of our three churches within the parish and is much better ventilated and spaced out for larger gatherings.
** Baptism are usually celebrated at Queenscliff, however church location may be subject to change. We will notify families as soon as possible if the church location needs to change from Queenscliff to Ocean Grove. We apologise if this causes any inconvenience.

Bookings are essentials via the Parish office on 5258 1673 or queenscliff@cam.org.au.

Baptism Preparation: All families are required to attend baptism preparation. The baptism preparation must be done at least 2 months prior to the baptism. The baptism preparation is conducted on the 1st Saturday of each month at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Church or Parish Hall. The session goes for approximately an hour.

Godparents & Sponsors: At least one Godparent must be Catholic, baptised and have had their Sacraments. Godparents must be over the age of 16. The role of a Godparent is to assist and support the parents with their child’s Catholic faith and journey. Godparents’ names must be confirmed by the Wednesday before the baptism date so certificates can be prepared for the day.

Gift of Thanks: It is customary to give a gift of thanks for baptism; between $50-$100 to cover costs for administration & resources, cleaning & disinfecting, priest’s stipend, baptism stole and baptism candle. The gift of thanks can be given to Fr Darien on the baptism day. You are welcome to bring our own stole/candle, otherwise a stole and candle will be provided on the baptism day.

Church capacity:

There are no density limits on numbers for attendees. This applies to all three Churches within our Parish.

The Archbishop’s office asks us to use common sense in continuing to manage the best and most appropriate safety and hygiene measures for our communities.
Therefore, please respect our COVID safe setting. We encourage all attendees to be considerate of each other. We also ask for all to be aware of social distancing and to sanitize at the stations provided throughout our Churches.

Please see below for additional information and the Parish boundary.

If you reside outside of the Parish boundary, a letter of permission is required from your local Parish.
