Personal and Group Reflections for Lent 2022
For Lent and Easter this year The Faith Development Group is using the booklet from the Diocese of Wollongong called “Remember” as the resource for individuals and reflection groups in our parish.
“Remember” is a 72-page full colour book containing short daily reflections (from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday) for individual reading and reflection. In addition, the Sunday Scripture readings, reflections, prayers and questions are set up to cater for Lenten group gatherings.
Our groups will meet weekly to reflect on the Gospels of each Sunday in Lent. Fr Antony Jukes OFM, from the Franciscan Friary in Killarney, Ireland, breaks open the Gospel and Mother Hilda Scott OSB (abbess at the Benedictine Abbey in Jamberoo NSW) provides spiritual nourishment based on these Gospels.
“Remember” also features beautiful religious artworks from the Masters, with prayerful reflections from Monsignor Graham Schmitzer.”
We have been encouraged to have increasing numbers in our recent Lenten and Advent reflection groups, extending to three groups in Advent last year. We hope to run at least two, possibly three, this Lent, at least one day time and one in the evening. The expected cost is about $8 each.
A participant in one of our recent reflection groups said, “It has been wonderful to meet in a small group and experience the sharing of my faith with like-minded people”.
