News from Trinity Aid for Refugees (TAR) & Queenscliff Rural Aid for Refugees (QRAR)

Trinity Aid for Refugees (TAR) is supporting Queenscliff Rural Aid for Refugees (QRAR) in aiding our refugee friends still seeking a permanent visa.

There are 2 ways you can give support to the Pathways to Permanency Campaign:

(a)    Write to Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke asking that those who have been rejected under the, so called, ‘Fast Track’ process, be reconsidered fairly and justly under criteria that includes, family ties, connection to the Australian community, work related and well-being factors and contributions to Australian society over the last 12 years.

(b)    Donate to the fund for the legal appeals by:

Refer to the Parish Website (below) for more information and a case study of a real family impacted by the fast-track process. Use some of the facts in your letters if you wish.

Please pray for a just outcome for those seeking visas.

Greetings to TAR friends,

We wish to update you on the great work the Queenscliff (QRAR) and Geelong (CRAG) Rural Aid for Refugees is doing in aiding our refugee friends still seeking a permanent visa.

Representatives have recently met with Richard Marles, Tony Burke’s advisor Anne Clarke and Libby Coker, and put forward suggestions that people rejected under the Fast Track process be considered under a criteria that includes, family ties, connection to the Australian community, work related and wellbeing factors and contributions to Australian society over the last 12 years.

We are asking for letters to be written to our local politicians to request consideration for the refugees seeking permanency to be treated fairly and with respect.

These are the address to use.

Hon.Tony Burke MP, Minister for Home Affairs, Immigration & Multicultural Affairs,

PO Box 6022. House of Representatives, Parliament House, Canberra ACT 2600

Ms. Libby Coker MP, Member for Corangamite,

26/500-540 Torquay Road Armstrong Creek VIC 3217. (03) 5261 7683. Libby.Coker.MP@aph.gov.au

Richard Marles MP, Member. For Corio,

PO Box 4160. Geelong, VIC, 3220. (03) 5221 7683 richard.marles.mp@aph.gov.au.

They have included a case study of a real family impacted by the fast-track process. See ‘flyer’ attachment below.  Use some of the facts in your letters if you wish.

The cost of the legal representation for every step of the visa process is large, and all refugee aid agencies are struggling to support the visa applications financially.

If you wish, please consider a donation to the QRAR account as the fund is severely depleted.

Note: Queenscliff RAR does not have charity status, so donations are unfortunately not tax-deductible.

We pray for a just outcome for those seeking visas.
