GUEST SPEAKER: 8 NOVEMBER 2026 | 3:00PM
Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Ocean Grove
We are delighted to welcome Cathy Jenkins as our parish’s annual guest speaker for 2026. Cathy Jenkins is the Program Lead for the Melbourne Synod. We look forward to welcoming Cathy and hearing from her on this special occasion. In December, the Archdiocese of Melbourne will gather in Synod as part of the universal Church’s ongoing journey of discerning what it means to become a more synodal Church. A synodal Church is a community of missionary disciples who walk together, listen to the Holy Spirit and one another, discern God’s will, and share responsibility for the mission of Christ. Increasingly, the Church is coming to understand that synodality is not simply an event or a set of processes, but a way of life: a Church where everyone has a place, everyone is heard, and everyone is called to participate in God’s mission. In this workshop, Cathy Jenkins will lead participants in exploring what a synodal Church looks like in practice at the local parish level. Together, we will reflect on how synodal spirituality and a synodal approach to mission can shape our parish communities as places of communion, participation, and mission. Participants will be invited to consider how synodality can become a lived reality in their own parish context. Parishioners are warmly invited to join us for this special occasion. To help us with catering arrangements, we would be grateful if you could kindly let the Parish Office know if you plan to attend or add your name to the sign-up board.
