We are delighted to welcome our guest speaker, Rev. Dr Max Vodola, who will explore the significance of Vatican II in shaping the Church’s understanding and practice of synodality. His presentation will also reflect on the theme of the Jubilee Year of Hope, highlighting its relevance to our lives, especially within the context of the Advent season.
Rev. Dr Max Vodola holds a Bachelor of Theology and a Master of Theological Studies from the Melbourne College of Divinity, as well as a Master of Arts and a Doctorate in Church History from Monash University. His doctoral thesis was titled “John XXIII, Vatican II and the Genesis of Aggiornamento: A Contextual Analysis of Angelo Roncalli’s Works on San Carlo Borromeo in Relation to Late Twentieth-Century Church Reform.”
He is a member of the Department of Church History and lectures on the history of the Church in Australia, 19th- and 20th-century Catholicism, and Vatican II.
