Introducing Padre Francisco Javier Diaz Diaz SJ

I was born and raised in Costa Rica but entered the Society of Jesus in the USA. I studied medicine in Costa Rica before joining the Society and was missioned to complete postgraduate studies in Family Medicine in Texas as part of my regency.  I was able to have some training in Restorative Reproductive Medicine and it is my joy to help Catholic married couples achieve a pregnancy through morally sound means when they struggle. I was ordained a priest in 2016, and I have been serving as a priest-physician since 2017 in a free clinic in Oakland, California  and as Vicar in the Cathedral Parish within the block of the clinic.  I was 14 years old when the Scout Movement enabled me to visit Australia for the World Jamboree.  I am grateful to be back in Australia 35 years later for Tertianship, in a constant search to go deeper in my encounter with the Lord and the mission He has entrusted to the Society.

We look forward to welcoming Padre Javier who’ll be living in our parish from Saturday 13th May (Confirmation Day) to Sunday 25th June. While he’s with us, P. Javier will lead the Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life – a retreat for busy people. This will commence on 21st May.
